Soccer
At Clarence We play soccer in term 2. Our soccer program starts at junior level where the importance of fundamentals are taught. All of our teams participate in the term 2 league as well as numerous tournaments, and KZN U13 trials for both boys and girls.
Cricket
Cricket is our summer sport and played in term 1. Our junior primary teams attend matches every Thursday and have training during the week. In the senior phase we have 3 cricket teams from u10 to u13. Our teams compete in fixtures against other schools in home and away matches.
Netball
Netball at Clarence Primary School is growing in strength. Our head of netball and her team ensure well structured programs are put in place from foundation phase to senior phase. The grade 2 and 3 girls play weekly tournaments. Due to the massive participation within the sport, Clarence Primary now has 4 senior teams.
Swimming
Swimming is taught in PE throughout the school in term 1 and 4. In term 1 we have our annual Inter-house gala in preparation for the DND gala held at Kingspark swimming pool. The "Learn to swim” program is implemented in junior primary and as they progress we move on to stroke training and conditioning. This sport is also offered as extra lessons.
Hockey
We are excited to announce this start of our hockey program in 2023. Basic skills and fundamentals of the game are offered to grade 1,2 and 3s during PE. The foundation phase participate in weekly tournaments against other schools. As we progress the hockey program we will look to filter it into the senior phase and grow our teams.
Chess
Chess is very popular in School. Clarence have produced SA, KZN and District players in the past years. Our youngest KZN player being 7 years old. The chess program is implemented in the junior and senior phase. Both phases compete in weekly tournaments at various schools.
Dance
Our country is filled with many genres of dance and is an integral part of our culture and heritage in South Africa. Our School is proud to be able to offer dance as an extra-mural where the children are exposed to different styles of dance, stretching and coordination by our qualified instructor.
